Registration is now CLOSED.

We have now emailed all applicants with an abstract submission form. We highly encourage you to apply to present, to make the most of the opportunity to discuss your work with your peers!

Please complete the emailed form by 7th March 2026 (even if you are not planning to present), in order to confirm which details you are happy for us to publish in the abstract book.

Presenting a talk or poster at YRSPP

All ECR delegates are strongly encouraged to apply to present a poster and/or give a talk before our supportive symposium audience. At YRSPP 2024 roughly 70% of attendees presented their work, receiving insightful feedback from peers and senior researchers. This year we're also introducing the option of a flash talk for anyone bringing a poster – this is a 1-2 minute 'elevator pitch' introducing your subject to everyone.

To protect and encourage sharing of unpublished work, photography/recording of posters or presentation material will be prohibited.

What can I present?

Standard talk: 15-25 minutes with 5 minutes for questions.

  • Presentations should be prepared using Microsoft Powerpoint or exported as a PDF – we are unable to open Apple Keynote files on the venue computers.
  • Exact presentation length will be confirmed once we have received all applications and established the number of presenters.
  • Try to capture the audience’s attention with large figures and images, keep text to a minimum and consider what the key takeaways are on each slide.

Poster: A0 (1190mm x 840 mm)

  • Posters should be in portrait orientation.
  • Posters will be left on display for the full duration of the symposium, to enable viewing and discussions during lunch/refreshment breaks as well as the formal poster sessions.
  • Ensure text is large and legible, and place the focus on your figures and diagrams.

Flash talk: 1-2 minutes (no question time)

  • Available to delegates presenting a poster who are not giving a standard talk.
  • Exact presentation length will be confirmed once we have received all applications and established the number of presenters.
  • Focus on giving a clear and concise overview of your topic and grabbing the audience’s interest so they come and see your poster!
How do I apply to present at YRSPP?

An abstract submission form will be emailed to you after you register to attend YRSPP 2026. This will require you to indicate what you'd like to present (i.e. poster, talk, flash talk) and provide a written abstract (<200 words) about your work. You'll also have the option to send in a graphical abstract to accompany your written one.

The abstract submission deadline is 23:59 (GMT) on 7 March 2026 - you will be sent an abstract submission form after registering. Please complete this form even if you are not planning to present, in order to confirm which details you are happy for us to publish in the abstract book.

We'll use the abstracts to select and schedule presentations for the symposium. Abstracts of successful applicants will be published in the YRSPP 2026 abstract book. We aim to provide every delegate with at least one opportunity to present (though this will depend on numbers), so please do apply to present your research – if competition is very high we'll be in touch.

When will I hear back about my application to present?

We will be in touch with details about your presentation/poster application after the abstract submission date (7 March 2026).

Are there prizes?

Yes, there will be prizes to encourage and recognise excellence in accessible, engaging science communication. These will include certificates, multi-retailer gift cards, and an antibody of the winner's choice from Agrisera.

NOTE: Only Option A includes a reservation at Vittoria on the Bridge for the symposium dinner, and these tickets are limited in number. If demand is high we may be able to add extra reservations with the restaurant, but we cannot guarantee this so book early to secure your spot!

Financial support for ECR attendance (applications now CLOSED)

We are able to provide a limited number of travel bursaries and registration subsidies to support the attendance of early-career researchers, thanks to generous funding from our sponsors.

If you do not have sufficient project funding to cover your registration or travel expenses and would benefit from financial support, please email us to find out more and apply for a subsidised ticket and/or travel bursary.

Cancellation

Cancellations can be made up until the close of registration (23:59 on 15 Feb 2026) but will incur a charge of 50% of the registration cost. After this date, registration fees will NOT be refunded due to cancellation. No-shows will not be refunded.
